Well if you go get apples from a tree on private property then your going to get worse than a fine in some instances.
Fishing license fee help the fisheries departments manage the resource that's there. Without the fees who is going to fund the conservation where your getting these fish from. I would think at 18 he would know that he needed a license to go fishing. Just chalk it up to a lesson learned. Hopefully the rod and reel weren't to expensive.

bodies of water arent private property unless owned by dockers

exactly they are state property... you take from the state, you have to pay the state... just like hunters still need to pay for license/tags

yea well exactly who is the state???
a bunch or fat rich no values politicains ...
go fishin pay there fat christmas bonus,
i bet less then 10% of a fishing licsense goes to stocking and research...
its the ppls land not the govs land,
now if ur fishing in a stocked area then yea there should b a fee...
but not the f@*k!ng niagra river!!!!
if the niagra river runs out of fish, consider us all dead

How do you figure they should be for people 21 and up. If that's the case I want the licenses to be applied to people 65 and over because they have more free time to go fishing.
You got to pay to play.
yea an most that free time is spent tryin to rig somethin up!!!
kids r kids...
cops want kids to stay of the streets,
but then fine them for doing something constructive...
fishing-passing the time whoopty doo...
omg most fish get tossed back anyway

whether it's right or wrong, fair or unfair, the states do have broad authority to regulate things, and if the law requires a fishing license, that's pretty much the way things go . . . personally, I wouldn't have fined the kid, I'd have given him a warning, but that's the breaks

You poor thing, already have to pay too much money in taxes.

If someone is over 18 they should either be working or going to school, hows that for getting off the streets. I can't believe someone is such a cheap skate that they won't buy a $20 fishing license. GMAFB :duh:

Please oh please show us where in the constitution that it is your right to fish, hunt or steal apples from a tree. If this were the case there would be no fish, game or apples for you or you bro to steal.
