what will happen to the fishes when you put them in an uncycled tank?

asked by a fishkeeper who can't wait to see her fishes swim... -_-

Irreversible damage to the gills by ammonia and nitrite.
Kind of like being in a gas chamber... you get the idea :)

I mean, uncycled tank with clean declorinated water and water change every other day...

Same thing...If your impatient like me, buy seachem stability, i put it in an uncycled tank and then put fish the same day and never had a ammonia problem, nitrate levels are fine as well.

Exposure to high level ammonia and nitrite spikes. Possible death depending on the fishes resilience. Permanent damage is likely to drastically reduce the regular expected life span of the fish even if they survive through the cycle.

In short, nothing good... As the saying goes. Patience is a virtue.

How big are the fish? How big's the tank?

You can add very small fish to a large un-cycled tank and not worry about what the other posters are talking about.

For instance: If your tank is 150 gallons, you can add 5 or 6 one inch fish. The ammonia won't accumulate at an uncontrolable rate in this senario.
