I have a question. If you have a low pH with resulting high ammonium/low ammonia content does that inhibit your tanks cycle? Is it possible for such a thing to cause a tank crash?

Ok I have read that with acidic water or low PH that beneficial bacteria colonize at a much slower rate than neutral water conditions.
Also you say high nh3 nh4 content.
I have also read that nh3/4 in high levels will considerably slow down the nitrogen cycle. I myself have seen this when adding too much ammonia during a tank cycle.
You may want to do your own research on the matter. But this is what I have read before.
FYI - I have very low KH out of the tap and my PH typically sits around 6 in several of my tanks that have a good bit of driftwood in them... I do not see ammonia spikes and I still get nitrates building up just like every other tank...
I am quite convinced that I have a rather typical nitrogen cycle taking place... and I've kept many tanks in such conditions for the 7 years I've lived in this area...
