Under estimating fish size

Lately I have been asked how big my Pbass and other fish are. I find that I constantly under estimate their sizes. Does anyone else do that? I guess better to short them than to guess too big and be made a liar.

Ya, its always hard to guess the size of your fish.. Thats why alot of people take them out and measure... Causes stress on the fish.

I usually say they are about an inch smaller than they are.

its all ok, peep my avatar, she tipped the scale at 10lbs14oz, but she looks huge in the pic! its just we love our fish so much! just push them toward the camera alittle bit!

As long as your fish are happy and healthy.....what does it matter how big they are? Never understood this rivalry?

I have this problem too. I just wait until the fish gets close to the glass and use a tape measure to get a better estimate.

Glass I find shortens fish. I always underestimate. Max though is an inch or so. I usually take the fish out every 6 months and measure them.

I don't take fish out of the tank unless they're dead, or moving to a new tank. I typically just throw a measuring tape up against the tank near them and take a guess from there. TBH I could care less about it unless I'm trying to sell the fish.
