i currently have a 30 gallon aquarium with 2 oscars and a pelco. I know it is kind of small but the oscars arent to big yet and will be moved very soon. But the question i have is are undergravel filters worth using? i have a filter that hangs on the back going as well. I have around 2.5 in of gravel on the bottom if that makes any difference. If i get rid of the filter will i need a seperate bubbler?

thank you,
mike

undergravels suck, just get another hob

Go with the UGF plates. It is an excellent way to take advantage of your gravel and won't take up additional tank space. Plus it will prevent your gravel from sulfating (producing hydrogen sulfide). It is also an excellent way to add additional bio-filtration without adding another plug in your outlet.

But then on the other hand, the only thing negative about them offered so far is that they suck. You wouldn't want to be uncool, would you?

Agreed, the ugf is the best bang for your buck when it comes to biofiltration. You just have to keep on top of your gravel vaccing, which your going to have to do with all those messy fish in a small tank anyway
