The problems with an ugf is that a lot detritus gets caught underneath the plates, and builds up. Even regular vacuuming does not remove all the waste. Also ugf really dont do anything as far as mechanical or chemical filtration. The benefits of slightly more BB you get and not worth the disadvantages of an ugf. Youre better of just running the canister, which has far superior mechanical and chemical filtration.
