Underrated Monster Fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have to agree with guppy in that the smaller predators don't get as much press as they should. I think I'll get a Phago species just because no one on here seems to own one. Native North American fish are underrated as well.

On the smaller side, not unusual in any way, monster personality, I had a few years ago a pair of Combtail gouramis, Belontia signata, they destroyed a Jewel Cichlid I had. They would also jump out of the water to take food from my hand. Would love to get some again.

Just remember that they are evil little republicans and I have had one destoy a pleco that was 1/3 longer and many times heavier than it was. The morning after I had put the pleco in I was greeted by the sight of a pleco that had no eyes, fins, or tail. I had to kill it. But they do fit in that desk top 10G.

If we are talking about smaller predatory fish.. I would say the

Butis Butis

is one of the most under-rated fish of all time. I kept one, and I LOVED HIM..

butterfly fish are pretty kool. i had one before, didn't get more then 5in. but he looked very dangerous, and had an odd body shape. he stayed at the top of the tank with my aro, ate guppies and krill.

even the lesser aggressive are worth mentioning ie. giant gourami,

Hiya Charles, welcome to MFK.
I have purchase African butterflys as adults, they were still active breeders almost 4 years later when I sold them.
