my green severum is 6 inches sometimes its stripes are bold black and somtimes in between and sometimes pail green the water readings are good temp is good is this just his mood or wat hes so pretty when his stripes are bold black lol but they dont stay what is this

that is normal, just part of the way they react with their 'mood' as japes said. they're aren't as a big at sulking the way oscars do though

its happends, like most cichlids they will change there patterns or colors. if they feeling stressed, aggressive, scared, flirty :naughty: ..ect

Mine shows the full striping a lot which in my experience is unusual...sevs I've kept have rarely showed all their stripes past 3" or so, just the last one near the tail and some spots at the bottom of the other stripes. I agree it's mood/stress, my green's stripes are darkest when the gold sev is bothering him.

Severums are moody fish. When he was black he was probalby stressed out. Were you doing water changes then???Or is he being picked on?? When hes greem it means he's happy.

have had severums for over ten years the darker the more aggressive they are. if they are a light in color and the the stripes fade he is stressed.

The beauty of the Heros isn't in the bars, its in the facial markings ;)

Just a quick word of warning, if your sev starts showing black bars past the size of about 6", something is wrong. Whether it be mood or ill health, he isn't happy :)
