uneaten food

To overcome such problems, feed less (smaller feeder) than needed at first.
Then once they demolish the current food (smaller feeder), add small bits of food (pellets) after until they lose interest and look full. That way you limit how much uneaten food is in the tank.

In addition, i have always gone minimalistic (spelling) with piranha tanks.
Black background, black sand, maybe one centre piece, and that way tracking uneaten food is not a problem.

heres a trick i did to get my pygos to eat as soon as food went into the tank.
i posted this on pfury nearly 3 years ago so i did not just sell my p's. LOL

i did an experiment a few months ago with my p's where i added enough food for all but one of them.
i was feeding them everyday and and the usual suspects always came for the food first leaving others not eating and sometimes leaving food uneaten.
i started to feed only enough food for all but one fish so that each feed meant 1 fish would not eat and fed them every other day.
it got to the stage where the p's that were not getting the food decided to go for it first too get something to eat so i carried on feeding every 2 days and giving the same amount enough for all but one of them.
in the end they all would compete for food equally so i started adding enough so they all could eat which they did and they always came for the food straight away, this lasted until i sold my p's the other day and the same p's always eat first but feeding did not last more than 2 minutes and rarely left any uneaten food.
