Unexpected Ammonia in fish tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I ordered more Stability (the store was out) and got some more Prime. I do dose the new water with Prime and know it does have chlorine but don't have a test kit for it. I have some Purigen for the tank but it got exhausted already so I have to renew it. I will do another large water change as soon as I get home and check the ammonia. I will not be home All weekend from Thursday to Monday and I'm worried I might lose some fish and then I'll have even more problems in the tank. Do you think that I should start letting the water sit for awhile so the Prime can eliminate the chlorine before I put it in the tank or will it be okay to dump it right in? The cloudiness has cleared up and the water is starting to smell better so fingers crossed that the tank is going to cycle soon and the fish will be okay.

Show you mom this thread. Tell her that many of the people here are life long experienced successful fish keepers, that your fish are likely being fed too much and you need to do the water changes.
