Hello,

I came home from work today to find that both my yellow hooks, one of the older sd's and a old congo tetra had died. I had had the yh's since upgrading the tank several years ago and had them since they were really small. The congo tetra had been part of a shoal moved over from a smaller aquarium about 1 year prior to that.

I have performed a large water change and cleaned both filters, which I think has prevented further losses. I plan to carry out another water change in a couple of days.

I have managed to account for the 2 remaining congo tetras, a larger spotted sd bought a few months ago, 2 other older sd's and my syno catfish. I have not manged to find 2 small spotted sd's and a sd, bought at the same time as the larger spotted SD.

The congo was 2", the 2 yh's were 6" and the sd almost 5".

Feeding will be suspended for a couple of days and I now have the task of deciding what to do. I will see how things go. :(

These have been my first losses in about 8 years, but it does not make it any less difficult.

RIP guys.

Depending on how things go over the next few days, I may take the remaining sd's to a lfs and make plans to replace them with a differet species. I was thinking of some melon barbs or red-line torpedo barbs.

That's the spirit.
:D

sry to hear about your losses .... its never easy, but at least you found a couple of the missing :)

Ahh sorry to hear that :( I've seen your yellow hooks from your threads in the other characins forum and really liked them. Makes me want to find a couple to mix with my red hooks and sds...
