Any tips on getting them down to him quicker, though? And I did try to distract the cichlids with THEIR food, but the shrimp were more obvious I think.

what i do is put the food in small Tupperware with a lid and stick my hand down deep into the tank, then open it up at the bottom near the fish i wanna feed. i try not to get to close though. this is also a good method for feeding bottom dwellers floating food.

Okay this morning was a success! I took the clump of thawed mysis shrimp in my hand and just dropped them right in front of where the bichir was resting. Right when he saw it he gobbled it all up. I wasn't sure if he had enough so I put one more in front of him and a peacock came over and tried to get it but he snatched it and swam across the tank. He probably ate 5 or 6 whole mysis shrimp, is that plenty for one day at his size?
