Unfaded RT x SB Tex(?)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for the advice! There are a few that are like the last one and some of them are SB. I'm hoping for some nice ones because I definitely want to continue breeding them to get ones that are more red..

the last on you posted is fading..the color will come with time.......you will notice as the batch progresses you will see more fading fish...and they will fade at different sizes!!! the ones with copper color undertones are fading too..not all fish will have black on them when they fade..some just change... hold on to them as long as you can so you can continue the breeding process. It is nice to know that there is another fertile rt male from my original pair...so far all the unfaded males tha have been tested by me and other fish keepers on the forums have had positive results..not all of them but most.:headbang2

keep us posted!!!!

Here is an update. I think I'm gonna start getting rid of them after Christmas.

This was one of the early SB faders that's a piebald for right now. I wonder if it will darken up to an orange.

Early fader, almost completely white, blue gill plates and no pearls. Would you think this is has RT heritage?

This guy has a nuchal hump already. Thinking of keeping him. No sign of fading yet though.

This is one I'm gonna keep. This guy is one of the ones that looked yellowish or faded when it was really young but it has a greyish tinge to it now. Faded or not it will be a beautiful fish when it grows up.

This one is starting to grow on me. It's getting a nuchal hump, nice orange belly and reminds me of a flowerhorn..

Various SBs and faders. You can see the flower lines are fading on some of them. I hope the yellow and white turns to orange. I guess we'll see. I did not cull for color or pearling on any of them, only for deformities. Some of the ones that I thought were going to be trash early on because of their ugly brown color turned into nice faders. They are big enough now that I have added mysis shrimp to their diets. There are going to be some nice ones!

Congrats! That piebald one looks real nice. About how large are they? Looks like they grew a lot in 3 months.

I really like the piebald too and I am amazed at the diversity that is shown. They are still at various sizes but they have grown very fast I think. Some tiny 1/4" ones to others that are just at about 2". There are 3 SBs that just grew the fastest actually, but have since slowed down and are getting overtaken by a some of the normal bodies.

Whats your feeding and WC schedule? Im raising some fry for the first time and Im not getting growth like you.

Are you keeping any of the faded ones to breed back to the unfaded dad?
