That could work fine, if you have something like a bog filter. I turned off my pressurized filter last year, and my koi are thriving, but I have two large bog filters that handle the load well.
Nice tread now you guys just made me wonder, I have a 150gal rubber maid tub I'm planning on adding some of my cichlids in there for the summer, I was told that with a lot of plants they should be fine both oxigen wise and ammonia wise.
Do I need some sort of water movement in there?
How many cichlids can be added to it?
Should I do any wcs to it? How often? How much?
I second this question. I've wanted to try something similar through the summer with a barrel or tub, but don't have an electrical outlet for a filter where I'd like to put the pond.
