Unfortunately i think i am loosing my big fire eel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He looks like a puppy

Whats the white area on top? Could that be an area he is damaged?

Have the pits by the white area always been there? My guy is only around 18" but I'm sure there are no signs of any indents like that. I'll try and get a picture.

He is so much like a puppy...

the white spot was not there a week ago, when this all started. i started thinking it was from him being upside down on his head, rubbing sand and not being able to get away from the rays.
But i am not sure now.

The first thing i noticed when he first was acting like this, was his face looked small, and his body was huge (where those pits are you refereed too.
that is why i thought a ray may have bit his face.

It is so weird he can lay upside down for almost a week and not move, but when i put food in he tries everything he can to get up and get to it!
BUt he is always been a pig.

I too wondered if he crashed into the glass, but i have never seen him move that fast...lol, but maybe!!

Is it possible your armatus shanked him?

it is possible... i have been looking for what looks like shank marks, and have't seen any... if you have ever touched your eel, it is unbelievable tough skin... i even wonder if it would penetrate.

Update...

Update...
I can't believe he is still alive. But he is. He Spends most of the day upside down. But occasionally gains strength to get right side up for a little while. He still reacts when he sees me, and when its feeding time. But struggles to swim the column of water.

Damn! I wonder if it was from a stinger?
