I have a 9" puffer thats extremely shy, whenever i look at it or go near it, the puffer always swims away into hiding keepin one eye on me suspiciously. Is there anyway to make it comfortable with humans presence? I tried to lure it with food but it will eat only when i go away.Im missing the best part!:cry:
 
How big is the tank? How long have you had it in there? Is it heavily decorated? It seems that the more decor a fish has, the more secure it feels & the more it's out & friendly.

its about 100g. i had it for few mths and its always behaving like this. Ive only decorated the tank with fine white sands, few plants and a stump which the puffer always hide. I think its feeling quite secure since its displaying bright color like what ive heard. :/

I used that horrid colored gravel hoping to bring out those sharp, bright maroon stripes that a lot of fahakas have--never happened & I'm stuck with gravel that looks like a 5-year old picked out.
 
Nice puffer. Its even facing you straight.I wish mine was a friendly one but all it does is avoiding me and giving me that suspicious look. :/
 
try some more decor perhaps. other than that idk what to tell you, perhaps place his tank in a high traffic area of the house to get him more used to peoples presence. my fahaka is the exact opposite, every time i get within 10ft of his tank he zooms up to the top begging for food, even if hes so full hes about to pop.

pufferpunk i too added hideous gravel thinking it would bring out his colors better, but the multicoled stuff makes em have that marbled look like yours. hopefully im goona switch it over to something more natural soon.

What are you talking about? Your puffer is gorgeous! I see the maroon stripes I wish mine had...
