Unhappy Mala. Wolf

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Edit. The change of decor and environment could also add to his mood problem.

Maybe what he/she needs is a place of refuge in the aquarium.
So it might be beneficial if you moved the rocks and driftwood around so that there is a little cave to feel comfortable in.
I'm not sure if that fits the mala's behavior but it seems to work for most of my fish.
And also the previously stated factors such as the dithers,, floating plants, etc.

My mala would frequently go on hunger strikes. It would also eat like a pig at times as well.

Hey Darth,
Do you still have your wolf? What size tank do you keep him in? I'm also curious about your decorations?

As you may have noticed, my tank is pretty sparsely decorated. I've added a slate cave for him, but he doesn't seem to favor it. I have not seen him eat since I began this thread, and possibly a few days prior to that. If he doesn't start eating soon, I'm contemplating re-dividing the tank because I'm running out of ideas.

I no longer have this wolf fish. I kept her in a 75 gallon once she got to 12" with a piece of driftwood. She stayed behind the driftwood all day until it was time to eat. She would be pretty active at night swimming around though. She had pretty drastic mood swings that would go on for weeks. I wouldn't worry too much, in a few weeks yours will probably be back to acting normal.
