Gold barbs are not available here at all ?. Any fish that is not a schooling fish ?. like center piece fish ?

ohh, you are right.Will rosy barb work ? how bout banana cichlid i have heard they are not aggressive at all.
There's not really one single works every time formula with GTs. That said, among the fish I've kept GTs with are severum, typically added while the GTs were smaller and the sevs were larger. In other words the GT didn't already think they owned the tank. Socializing GTs to other cichlids when the GTs are smaller seems to result in more peaceful GTs ime. But, again, GTs can vary.
Rosy barbs would be a good dither choice. And banana cichlids being african would be a no in my book.
