UNICORN STINGRAY?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, does seem small, maybe the ray is stunted in some way and is storing fatty deposits there, after all if they are starving they have a dent there so must be some fat deposit....if not then suspect a cyst.

If it were me I would isolate and reduce the food for a few weeks and see if reduces, if so then fat, if not then lump, grow or cyst?

Some type of backwards HITH is my guess, or it hit something Sharp real hard causing a weird wound but even then.....

Makes sense. Its grown a bit since I've been feeding her more than the previous owner. He said he ws feeding 5-6x a week and I'm feeding 2x3x a day. I feed carnivore once and shrimp in strips at night.

Fatty thing makes sense... and if she is stunted does this mean she will be smaller longterm or stay this size? (Rookie ray keeper)

HITH?
She's had it since I got her but its become more noticable over time since I've uped the feeeding. Guy I got her from says the other he has with her has and has had the same thing

They can recover from a slow start. I have a ray that I picked up at 7 months old and only 4.5". She grew rapidly for me and now is in a normal range for her age.

Nothing like room to swim and lots of food.
