Not a syno, notice the size of the adipose fin compared to the pics you have there? Channel cat, come spring I sell tons of them at work...The channels cat's species name I. punctatus means "spotted", although they lose the spots as they grow.

actually it was 48 inches, but the weight is correct. You're thinking of the blue catfish world record.
