Rams come in many colors choose your fav b go for it. Rummynose tetras for dithers. Bn plecos for clean up they have variety of colors now too. I have 3 sterbai 2 ABN plecos 15 rummynoses and 9 discus. Wouldn’t want anything other than the discus showing the tank they are beautiful enough.

I'd skip the bn; while not common they can latch on to angels and discus to suck the slime; and yes i had a bn do that to my angels - made a nice mess of them until i got rid of him; though after 3 or 4 months they did heal up.

South American glass knife fish or cloudy knife fish are a great oddball fish for a discus tank. Need to be kept in small groups are peaceful and don’t grow that big.

Doesn't seem to be a great fit due to higher temp for discus. I suppose you could push it for the other species but it is 8 to 10 degree warmer than their norm. I often wonder about clown loaches though i know my discus are quite temperamental and i'm not sure they would enjoy the lively behavior of the loaches esp at night.

Exactly why I moved my clown loach shoal in to a different tank I had 12 clown loach with my 18 discus but the clowns are just too boisterous and too competitive at feeding time

I have a friend who has kept both species of knife fish mentioned with Discus in the low 80s and they seam to be thriving. Can’t speak for the clouded knife but glass knife fish have been in his current set up for around two years with rams and cardinals.
