nice sen... but i didnt see the previous thread...what was the unique part?:)

here is the previous thread: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40548

it is unique by the amount/markings of the dorsal finlets, yellowish color of the tail, and head shape/markings. i was thinking it may have some palmas polli genes or just be a "unique" senegal :)

very interesting indeed! thanks for the update pics (i never saw the originals until this thread). given the look of the head, it does seem to have some palmas polli in the fish...or at least appears to have some. dorsal finlet pattern is also unusual compared to other senegalus. great specimen, wonder if it's a hybrid once or twice removed from the original parents/generation--

since both species are farm bred, I think there is a strong possibility for an accidental hybridization in this fish.

The head and tail of a polli, color of an sen. Cool! :D

Unique? Only thing I see unique is the number of dorsal finlets. Your gal only has 6 while fishbase has them listed as 7-8 I think. (Mine has 8.) You may have a mutant. ;-)

Good thing you pointed that out man! 6 is typical of palmas polli :D

eminas- i am still not quite sure :) my opinion would be he looks 85% senegal and 15% other (maybe palmas polli). i guess instead of saying "unique" i should say "unusual". and my "gal" is actually a dude :P

bigspizz- thank you, me too :)

thanks solomon. i was hoping that once he got bigger his identification would be easier. so far it really hasnt :D

thanx Cohazard- accidental hybridization could be a possibility. he was the only odd looking one out of 15 or so in that batch. i was hoping someone else had one that looked similiar for comparison :)
