Has Anyone ever used this product? I'm thinking about using it on my 300 acrylic. The previous owner painted the back black which I simply cannot stand! The demo really looks cool- But I would have to use magnets on the install because taking the tank down is not an option I'd like to consider. Was just wondering if anyone had some insight.

I'm considering them for a 3d background, they look good but no first hand experience. Do you know how the magnets attach to the background? I'm thinking of framing out a wall with pvc and attaching the back ground to the PVC so that I can hide my equipment without using silicon and taking down the tank.

There is some that install with magnets, where the background has a magnet and then on the outside of the tank you put the other magnet to keep it to the tank glass. I really prefer this way over the silicone way, but haven't decided yet. I've contacted all 3 of them to give me quotes on what i want with shipping to me in florida, one of the is in florida :)

Contact Mastiffman. He has a 3D background and has recommended them. They made me a 14' 10" x 3'10" low profile rocky background to go on the floor of my tank. We haven't installed it yet, but are pleased with how it looks.

is the magnet preattached to the background from the manufacturer?

Yes, there is a magnet in the background itself and the other you put on the outside of the aquarium and it suctions it to the tank holding it up :)

IMO they are a horrible company with no customer service skills and should be avoided like the plague.

I tried to purchase from them on 3 different attempts but was blown off every time. They don't respond to e-mail, voice mails and do not follow up on anything.

Better off going with Designs By Nature. http://www.designsbynature.net

See my 2700 for the background from them.

So I've talked with a guy from universalrocks in Texas a couple of times. He so far has sent me a couple pics of backgrounds he thinks might work after I emailed a detailed diagram of my tank with dimensions. Apparently they discontinued the magnets because, and I quote,"the magnets have become to expensive to include." Apparently, they only have one guy working there because he always answers the phone if anyone and he's always "swamped." He suggests that since taking my tank down to install is not an option, that I should take it halfway down, silicone the backgrounds at the top, and then use gravel to hold bottom down. Gonna give him til Monday to come up with a price and then I'm going somewhere else. I'm also a little hesitant to silicone with my fish still in the tank. I don't know that magnets would even work though because my tank is 5/8" acrylic.
