i brought this at 2-3 inches, its now about 8-9 , its was the only one in the shop and they just had it down as cichlid, searches on google aint help ed , does anyone know what exactly it is, and theres a oicture of my eartheater as well just for variety

Yes it is a cichlid.. and I believe a gold saum

1st looks like a golden saum (green terror)
2nd is a satanoperca leucosticta

the first one has lovely greeny blue metalic flashes , and the second one has blue metalic flashs, and a mouth that seems to open the entire size of its head , its also what i blame for eating my frogs, though that may have been 1 of my 2 hoplos , both a resonable 7 inches long

I've never seen a gold saum look that gold over the entire body.

could it be a hybrid, or is my experience just that limited?

# 1 looks to be aequidens or Cichlasoma.


I was thinking Sapaynesis.. though I haven;t seen in person and all the web has the eyes are not the same color.Which means absolutely nothing to a point..

or Aequidens" coeruleopunctatus.. But I have never even heard of this one till looking in to the Ports and Sapayensis. I also thought C. amazonarum.. OR a similar cichlasoma.. I have a few books that I swear I have seen this fish in.. So if there is no answer then when i get home I will look and see.
