Unknown snakehead

Looks like a pleuro but its not, lfs calls it a 5 star channa. Mottled pattern somewhat like an asiatica from the top, i wonder if it is a hybrid. Less active than a pleuro, hides alot. The colours are impressive and this photo does it no justice.

how big is it? mine looks similar..hides a lot, skittish as hell had to move it beat the crap out of my pleuro's...i was thinking maybe mauruloides...

at a gess i would say marulia,what makes me say this is the black spot with red around it on the top half of its tail(caudal fin)

So it is a marulia? I searched the net fo channa marulius, most looks different except for one website. A matter of confusion is that the lfs sells channa aurantimaculata as king cobra snakehead. mine is approximately 5" long and timid , i had to move him away from his originally planned 4ft tank because the smaller sized pleuro was chasing the length and breadth of the tank.

mine looks very like yours Deangelo, but with 5 ocellus, thats why the lfs calls it 5 star snakehead ! but then i doubt the lfs knows what fish they are really selling.

funny thing is i got mine in singapore...maybe mine is a 4 star snakehead, seriously though mine was called flower snakehead, but he did offer me the 5 star snakehead, and king cobra which i didnt know reffered to aurantimaculata mine is about 3"...
