It is a Chiton, a harmless algea grazer like a snale... I'm really sad you killed it, as I would kill to have them in my tanks. Here is a link about them http://web.archive.org/web/20020815020042/www.animalnetwork.com/fish2/aqfm/1999/aug/wb/default.asp

And I'm sorry but this is a really ignorant comment "Beats me, I don't even care if this thing was beneficial, I didn't want it in my tank with my corals." You shouldn't just kill something when you don't know what it is... you should put it into a QT or sump till you know.

Cry me a river, animal lover. I care about my corals more than I do an ugly slug. Who are you to call me ignorant? Sorry I don't stop and let every little thing destroy my tank for the sake of the life of a hitchhiker. I asked what it was, not for your judgment of me killing it, so save that garbage for someone who cares.

Ingnorance def; Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular. I was aware of what it was and its bennificail nature, meaning I am not ignorant in the topic, hence the right to call you ignorant because at the very least you didn't know what it was. I don't expect you to like me, or my opinion, but you would be wise to listen to those who are more knowledgable about the hobby then you are.

Second of all I never said leave it in with your corals, I said put in a QT or Sump or heck even a breeders box, your corals would be safe wile finding info about it, and you could have kept it or given it to someone else as cleanup crew, or even killed it anyways once you knew what it was.

Thirdly I'm not an "animal lover" everything has its place in the world (in this case, eating algea, aka clean tank), I eat meat etc, my point is, there is no reason to kill things because they are unknown to you, or because you don't like how it looks, if you KNEW it was a raging coral predator I wouldn't have commented about it, as I probably would have done the same thing, but you didn't you just made an assumption and killed it. This "ugly slug" which isn't really correct, as its something between a slug and a snale as it has either a full shell or part of one, would have been an excellent addition to your cleanup crew, or could have made an addition to someone elses. You could have stuck it in a jar and brought it back to the FLS and they could have sold it.

If commenting again gets me banned, fine, life goes on, its people like you that don't desearve to care for the beautiful life that makes up corals, as you automatically dismiss everything that doesn't fit into your definition of perfect. When you've done as much research, had as much experience, and read as many articles as I have on reefing, and I'm talking all aspects, I will listen to what you have to say, but untill that point, I hope your backwards veiw on reefing doesn't influence others.

Correction, you don't want to, most people have alot of respect for what I have to say, but it's said, so I'm done now.

this is silly......Kevin8888

This is not YOUR tank...what he wants in it and thinks is beautiful is souly up HIM.
Who are you to say someone should not keep a tank because they don't want some hitchhiker that he did not want or buy in his tank, i crush ramshorn snails and get rid of them/feed them to my other tanks ALL THE TIME...is that not the same thing?..they are hitchhikers i never bought them, never wanted them but some people love these snails and breed them....

stick to giving advise rather than getting crappy because someone does not want something in there tank..beneficial or not.

It's one thing to kill a pest/plauge hitcher (aiptasia for example) another to kill something that is highly unlikely to reproduce or become a problem, and again, I didn't say he had to keep it, I said he could have given it to someone else, or to his LFS. I bring hitchers I don't want to my LFS all the time, couple of mantis shrimp over the years for example, but some people would be like? WHAT!? Why didn't you keep it. But w/e not my tank so your right, it's technically none of my buisness, but oddly enough being a forum, I am free to express my opinions/criticisms so get off my back about it. Like I said in my previous post, I'm done, I've said what I wanted to say about it, so drop it.
