Well... he gets along very nicely in my tank now. I have lots of driftwood/rock caves in there, so there isn't a territorial problem (at least yet). After his first few feedings, it seems he's not interested in pellets or flakes or wafers. A few ghost shrimp are gone. The lfs fed him bloodworms... but I was under the impression that those weren't too nutritionally sound. Any hints on what he might like? The senegalus eats pretty much anything I give him.

Also, I have less knowledge on lower jaw bichirs than upper jaw. Is there really any difference in raising the two other than appearance?

size too, don't forget the size haha

Well, my tank is 24" x 48". I'd say that it's understocked if anything. Size shouldn't be too much of an issue, right? Additionally, I think I like the look of this little guy more than those with solid vertical stripes... so I'm happy with the purchase. :)

even though hes captive bred he'll still probably surpass the 24" mark eventually

as far as water conditions, food, etc, not really. Really the only thing is size, and the larger species will grow larger and faster than smaller species, which affect tankmate selection.

actually even most wild caught ones in captivity won't surpass 24" realistically, so captive bred ones most likely won't either.

Well, I guess it's a good thing I didn't get both of them. Hahaha. If he outgrows the tank, I'll just get a bigger tank. I'd have one already... but I haven't had an excuse to buy one yet. Haha.

Yup, like Infblue said, no way will it hit 24".
You will be lucky to get that anywhere near 20" IMO.

OP, try feeding defrosted whole shrimp. All my Endlis go crazy for it!

Holy! 10 bucks. you got a steal for sure. They are rare and are worth at least 50 bucks in canada!

Nice poly.some of my endlis are 14 years old.I have three that are around 21 then three around 17 then the rest are 14-16 inches. Some will just grow bigger then others.I noticed my biggest ones are girls.
Good luck with your endli.
