So...every weekend I normally do my water change at 80% weekly and this is my water change schedule. Over the weekend I did my water change as usual just like any other weekend. After water change, look at my fish and they seem to be normal. Went out for 3-4hrs, came back ALL fish was breathing REALLY heavy and Sadly I lost one of my biggest Dat and my biggest clown loach (pretty penny here). I was like WTF is going on, so I tested my water immediately and all parameter was spike up. Not sure what happen or how does it happen.

Tank has 4FX 6 running as well as wet/dry sump running (yes over killed but never to much IMO). So I shut all my filters and i left my 2 air stone running for oxygen while doing water change. I also add 2 more additional air stone when I do water change, so there is plenty of oxygen for them. I also does this when filters are not running.

When I filled back to water, after the water passed the inlet I turned back my filters let it run while finishing filling up the tank. I always added prime and a bit of salt when I do water change. So im not to sure what has happened after the water change or even during water change that I did. But for sure I can't figure out what's wrong with it other then the city added Chlormine more then usual. Usually the city will add more when it raining, but it wasn't raining during the weekend.

If I have gone for the whole day or on vacation I would lost over 15K of fish in this tank. Just these 2 fish over the weekend i felt like sick in my stomach already.

Does anyone else have a glue?

I'm betting on the filters being off causing issues. Someone else on MFK lost a bunch of fish too with filter being off 1.5 hrs. Just my guess.

Maybe...I thought about this, but i dont think this would make a different. My FXs inlet his half way down to the tank, so I didn't shut off the filter until the water was down to the inlet. Also I used mag drive 24 pump to pump the water back in. So the filters only shut off no more then 20mins max.

Bro im doing a research how and where to get a test kit for Chlorine. My town suck If they decided to add more chlorine no one would know.

I'm on vacation this coming long weekend, I was planning to do another water change before I leave. Now I am afraid to do water change, even a small amount scare me. Loosing money is not a problem, I can always find. Loosing pride fish hurt more, I could never find a replacment.

I never turn mine off because my filter contains anaerobic bacteria. Washing them in the tank will cause trouble. My intake is very low so I can run the filter during WC. Hope you figure it out.

I'm refering to your close loop filter.
