Wouldnt the water company know that? Here the city post their water perimeter every month. Hope you fine your answer asap buddy. How's the other fishes doing, everything looks good?

I never turn mine off because my filter contains anaerobic bacteria. Washing them in the tank will cause trouble. My intake is very low so I can run the filter during WC. Hope you figure it out.
Thanks buddy..

I was thinking the same thing to move my intake to very bottom of the tank so i dont have to shut off my filters. My only question , I have done this many times never got this problem. Also why would shutting off filters for 20-30mins caused water parameter to spike and caused heavy breathing to the fish? This part I dont understand.

After I tested the water, I immediately did another 50% of water change. Added more prime and i can see the fish instantly breathing normal.

Hydrogen Sulfide gas is a gas produced in anaerobic pockets in the filter (closed loop). Without oxygen, some bacteria can respire by using sulfur to create hydrogen sulfide. This is toxic.
Hydrogen sulfide poisoning should be suspected if there is no sign of parasite, no real ammonia or nitrite, signs of respritory and stalled filter or stirring stagnant media (sand/gravel).

This is why I always have sponge filters in my tanks you'll never be without some type of filters on. I turn off my pump for my sump but never have I ever turned off my sponge filters.

Sorry for your loss with the fish. That's over kill filtration and I don't think that caused your death. Something is in your water that was toxic. Test your water off your faucet and if it's high above normal limit just contact your village and give them a bill for your fish at market value. I know someone who did that and got money back.

That's good ideas..going to try that/

Sorry to hear that. I hope it wasn't one of those monster loach you just got. Hearing these post about fish dieing after water changes really scare me now.

Man sticky, sucks brother! Your water perimeter looks good nothing to alarming. Do you have a chlorine test kit? Sorry bro! I just lost my tatf and my tig this wk do to ammonia spike!

O.o ?

The ammonia and nitrite are off the charts

Looks like a crash, why tho? Something killed a bunch of bb... Possibly water to hot during change?? Do you use a warm water change like me? I have to be careful with my mixer taps?
