White mountains NH
Good morning. New here ?? 75 g planted tank , dwarf Pleco /auto cad /chocolate ghost/ electric blue jack. recent health issue with my chocolate ghost knife full 9” ish. and electric blue jack about 2.75” The blue Jack has developed what appears to be cataracts or Cloudy eye and his lost his high energy level, stays down low until feeding time. . The ghost knife has developed a clouded eye and now two small white things form his body maybe worm? I have researched to my end.

Little prior information I moved 11 months ago from a five-year established tank. and successfully set up the tank again only loosing 1 Cory cat. This is a 75 gallon moderately planted tank. Parameters are good.
I lost three electric blue rams suddenly, and a dragon fish overnight dead about 1 month after the move. Lfs state’s paradite. But nothing else was affected. I treated the tank with prazi as they advised

Fast forward to a month ago, My electric blue Dempsey started flashing and digging his head into substrate. Not able to see signs of issues The lfs said probably because stress as my flying fox was picking on him as well. Strange. I got rid of the flying fox as I really didn’t need him in the tank, then my blue Dempsey started showing signs of gold on his forehead this being new , my LFS stated they thought it looked like velvet and was probably why he was flashing and burying his head. So I pulled the Dempsey and treated copper quarantine after three weeks I pulled him as it was gone displaying a faded original black marking. Re-entered him into my tank, within a half an hour the gold reappeared. I’m starting to think it’s a genetic cross between an electric blue in a gold Dempsey. As the gold spot has taken over a black marking. my Lfs doesn’t know I believe. My jack is still personable but not like before.. and very stagnant and seems to have depth perception issues, noticed during feeding.
The ghost is still very active but is timid on his left side hence the eye issue. Very timid on adding stuff as I’ve read those chocolate ghosts are sensitive species.
I feed bloodworms, brine, Misys shrimp, flakes and I was doing once a week ghost shrimp. I have a Fluval 306, temp is usually 80°, great top water aeration. Lighting has not changed. Water is composed of RO and some tap.. I might be forgetting stuff. I’ll try to upload a picture as I haven’t done this yet before. Thanks in advance and hope somebody could shine a little light.

Check ur water parameters first.

Welcome aboard
I know you stated parameters are good but can you post them. Also what is your water change routine and how do you maintain filters? Cloudy eye in most cases indicate water issues. The pics don't make me say something is drastically wrong.

Sorry for delay I just went down and got a phosphorus kit as I didn’t have one here. I left my kit at the school in my wife’s classroom as I have a bio cube there for the kids with some clowns., To add complications to this I did not mention earlier I have a large algae outbreak. 2 1/2 weeks ago I plumbed in my ultraviolet sterilizer. Upon water flow, some old dried debris had exited the return into the tank. Worried this might spark something I did an immediate 10% water change just because removing most of the debris. Since then I’ve had this dark green algae covering my substrate as well as plants. I have since removed 50 to 60% of my plants and moss cutting them off at the base. I gravel vac the substrate every few months in patched areas. Filter is rinsed every 3 week making sure there’s no small plant debris decaying. Ph 6.8. Ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 5 phosphate 4 gh 5 kh 4 20% wAter change a week

we need actual test results. also test your tap water and post that.
also what filter media and how you clean it and its maintenance schedule.
Ph6.8. Ammonia 0 nitrate 0 gh 5 kh 4 nitrate 5 phosphate 4. the tapwater is a private artesian well 584’ deep with normal high mineral content here in New Hampshire. PH is about 8 1/2 out of the well I have two different porosity ceramic medias inserted. I forgot the exact size but two baskets worth. And usually just rinse the media

do you rinse the media in tap water? like mentioned cloudy eyes are usually a sign of bad water or uncycled filter media. tap water can kill BB but looks like you're not new to the hobby by your answers. whats the water temp? has it changed? have you tested for stray voltage?

Yes, I’m completely stumped. Temp is always 77, (increased if of lately to 81) stray voltage had some prior 2 years ago until I installed probe for ground out. I had light voltage Emitting form my light source “surface of water was bad, decreased as depth increased” the two 650 power heads leaked minimal but all grounded out for zero.

that is a stumper. does your jack like earthworms? worms are great for putting on size and girth, yours looks a bit skinny. might help boost energy levels.
