Untreated tap water

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
One time I figured there was no real need to use tap water treatment and I killed my entire stock. There are also members who never use treatment with no issues. I'd rather be safe than sorry!

Moved to setup and filtration.

Drstrangelove hit the nail on the head IMO. Bulk dechlorinators like Safe or bulk Sodium Thiosulphate are so cheap that is seems crazy to not use them, regardless of how little chlorine your water supply company uses on a good day.

Just remember that when people say their fish "seem fine" when not using dechlorinator they are usually basing that statement on nothing more than what they can see while watching their fish, not any sort of in-depth study of things like damage to gill tissue over a lifespan of many many years.

I Prime my water no matter what they say it is, not taking any chances.

Constant drip going strait into the tank 24/7 hot and cold.

Does this work with chloramines, or is it for chlorine only water supplies? I'm asking because I want to use an auto drip method and I've never found this question asked/answered.

Great company for all types of filters but still against the thought of untreated or unfiltered water completely

I agree, which is why I run a carbon block on my drip.

"Safe" for my non drip tanks.
