Nice!

...Shane, got her at 20".. she lived at an old ladies'.. she gave her a name (cinqta) and had a compost with worms that she handfed her from everyday.. that said 8-20" 6-9 months, 25" one more year, 30+ 2-3 more years..

They really benefit from a good hiding spot and some extra attention..

Thanks for the info and the pointers. They are smart and interactive indeed. I think all spiny eels are.

That's pretty good rate. Through the years I've tried my hand at a half a dozen of fire eels. It has been very hard to feed them. They are fussy. I've learned they accept easily only crustaceans and worms.

My prior attempts met with demise for various reasons. Last fall I got two ~10" from Pet Zone San Diego, CA. One would not eat anything, not even bloodworms, nothing, perished in a few months. Even live ghost shrimp didn't help. Another I tried much harder with and it is eating ok, got some bulk, but barely grew, still at ~12".

I've got 4 black spots and two tiretracks at the same time. Very easy. They are ~1.5' right now and very thick.

Yeah, real fuzzy.. i think thats a big part of why they are sensitive.. they must lack some vitamins, metals etc..

I have a hard time seing how they dont when the absolute majority only eat shrimp and wormy things..

I found something else.. they heal poorly in soft waters.. as long as they are healthy they do just fine but any rash goes dramatically bad in soft water.. i would assume its the same with things inside them..

Thanks for the nice words guys!

Looking great man, do you know the mix on the ray? i am assuming Marble is in there somewhere. Again, as you know I am a big fan of your setup.

You are absolutely right.. pearl/marble hybrid.. this was the only one to come out with this colour though..

Thank you and likewise man!

My remaining fire eel has been taking finely cut fish lately. So there is hope.
