I think the lesson is stay away from red tailed cat fish. These guys should only be able to get in special order, not sold in local fish stores. I had a 4'' one in a 45 gallon, and he outgrew it in 2 months and I put him in my 500 gallon. Even a tank this size will not be big enough to house him permanently.
