I've never had anything but left over food bothered by Ants.......Unless what you were keeping was either dead or dying......

It is more of the fact of them making a nest in the cage.

Oh yea, fire ants and other ant species can be a big pain on nest sites. I would sugest that you keep the igs without big areas of soil and insted give them egg laying chambers made by yourself which gives you instant access to the eggs, thats how many iguana farms do it.

I've never seen any kind of Cteno, Cyclura, or Iguanas use any man made burrow to nest.......Let them chose their own nesting spot, if you limit them, you run the risk of them binding up.........The most common problem with big Lizards in captivity........Ever wonder why you see more Males available verses Female? It's not because people try to hoard them.......They kill them off trying to tell them where to nest, instead of letting the animal do what comes natural........You just have to keep an eye out.......I've never had a problem, and I've got a decent size colony where my outside stuff is at.......I just pour boiling water on the mound if a nest pops up too close for my comfort......You'll never get rid of them, just keep that in mind.......
