Up date on my Cichla temenis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here is a pic of my Pinima and one of the temensis side by side. the temensis are around 3 1/2 years old and the pinima is a little over 2 years old. You can see they look nothing similar to each other. My buddy has a theory that the temensis only get a pattern/coloration when they are in their breeding season, but I don't know if I agree with that. My other bass spawn roughly every 5 weeks so if the conditions are good I don't think there would be a breeding cycle. My theory is that they change coloration when they are mature, but being that mine are 3 1/2 years old already makes me wonder if my theory is correct and if it is, at what age do temensis hit maturity?
