Interesting,not sure how much longer they plan to go with the original but it might be nice to run the spinoff in the off season.That way they can cut out the mid season hiatus.
 
They've been talking about the spin off for 3 years. Suppose to just follow a different group during the same time period. I won't believe it'll hit the air until it happens. Far too much hype and they've seen the air waves get bombard with a ton of zombie shows in the process. At what point does the market become saturated? Post apocalypses shows can't reach the height of cop/detective drama where there's 20 going at once

Lol there never seems to be a shortage of cop shows.I wasn't aware of any hype for this supposed spinoff other than a few post mentions here.
 
Agreed,especially if talks or plans go back that far and they definitely should have gotten it done before SyFy's show hit the screens.
 
I don't get the walking dead spinoff really

if it's the same writers and directors, what's the point? it's just gonna be pretty much the same thing we're already getting but with different actors

and most of the time spinoffs suck don't they? only way I'd want a spin off is if they show the origins of the virus, some kind of back story or if they have the story move towards people finding a cure or something in that direction

imo, they should just continue with the webisodes. keep each series short and move on. I don't need another full blown series
 
Well I enjoy the post apocalyptic/zombie genre when it's done well so I'll be looking forward to the spinner.It can't be as bad as the show that is on SyFy and that has even grown on me.It would seem that an origins based show would be the way to go.
 
Plenty of spinoffs have been successful. Even in movies. A spinoff wouldn't be entirely different then say....we only followed Woodbury, the termites, the cops in the hospital etc etc instead of ricks group

From what I've heard the spinoff is following a family in LA before crap hits the fan. Spinoffs are meant to stand on their own but the audience knowing things that the characters can't possible know yet. In theory, the walking dead could end and cobalt (that's what I read the spin off is called) could continue on several years beyond TWD.

In truth sumo, it's making the webisodes into a full season

movie spinoffs are different but even then they can be tricky.

I guess I can't really say about tv show spinoffs since I don't watch that many.

i'm calling it now though, it's not gonna have the same amount of success and if their plan is to stop twd altogether with the spinoff it will be the death of it

I think they are doing the right things recently though. which is parallel with the comics more closely and upping the gore
 
They're not, just saying we've seen shows end before while the spinoffs continue. I can't even tell if they're planning crossovers (characters appearing from one show on the other).

For example, the Simpsons is considered a spin off.
