quite suprised its the argenteas ruling the tank with your collection of fish. ive got 6 in my tank with pearsei and my small firemouth is boss.

lol...I know. I felt the same way.

Hes the biggest in the tank @ 4 inches...well, next to the HRPs and they are pretty nice unless someone goes near their eggs when they spawn. Its honestly a docile tank for now because there are so many growouts in there (24 I think)..its basically like a tank of target fish if anyones feeling grouchy. Ill remove whoever isnt working out as I move forward with it.

My lights go out at 11 on the tank and I just went and looked and the grammodes has retired form fighting for the night and is on the complete opposite side of the tank.:screwy:

Great fish and love the tank. It seems kinda weird with all that room your having trouble. Ive had a few growout ca/sa communities and hadnt had much trouble until the fish started putting on size.

Im sure you know, but I would definately keep an eye out on the two. Not saying the argentea isnt capable of holding its own, but IME grammodes are psychotic. If they are simply fighting over that territory and its not a heirarchical issue, id redecorate that section of the tank.

Good luck

Thanks and yea, Im adding some stuff tomorrow and maybe getting one of the pairs of HRPs out as well.

Not trying to worry you anymore than you are, but my grammodes usually did his dirty work at night. More than a few times, id shut the lights out and everything would be fine, only to wake up that next day to a dead or severly beaten fish. This was in a 125 gallon and he was much larger, since you have much more room and hes smaller id be willing to bet everything will be alright. I just figured I would share my experience.

Fish are looking great! Keep the updates coming man - it's a lot of fun watching them grow.

Makes me feel that my fish are boring - they don't fight :D

Thanks Peter! Thats my goal, no fighting. About to do my water changes and re-arrange that corner that is "oh so important" to the grammy and the argentea and see if I can get them to stop. Everyone else is fine, but they are still bickering.

Tanks looking great! Love the leucistic HRP, who did you get those from? I am thinking about placing an order with rapps in the next week or so, assuming this cold streak snaps at some point!

Thanks man. The leucistic is actually spawning with one of the regular female HRPs again today. They have laid eggs on the backside of a rock in the tank. They did the same 2 weeks ago but nothing happened. I dont know if they are both female or what..I guess Ill find out soon enough. I bought the leucistic & 4 regular females from Ira. They are all around 3.5-4 inches. Also, I bought 6 F1 ‘Rio Monga’ HRPs from Rapps. They are about an inch or so. I have them growing out in my first try at a real planted tank, after seeing how good yours looks.

Anyone know what happens if a leucistic spawns with a regular fish of the same species. Is it a mixed batch of fry?
