i didn't know that black worms were not very nutritious. i wont buy them again. my rays do seem to like them though! WAY more then pellets! lol!!

are red wigglers and dew worms nutritious?

they guy said there was sand in the filter ? im guessing either your sponge thing isnt working or it got in before you put it on . either way i think that was more of a comment as they couldnt find anything else wrong with the filter.

tbh i would be concerned about the sponges putting extra strain on the pump . trying to suck **gallons / hr through a clogged filter sponge cant be easy .

you could check by timing it. get a bucket . put the outlet in . time how long it takes to fill up with teh sponge on . and how long with it off. you will soon see if there is a difference or how bad it is . dont be tempted to clean the sponge first though as you want to know what its doing on day to day running .

yah i here what ur saying, i think it probably does put a bit of stress on my filter but its better then getting the thing all mucked up with sand. sand can destroy the filter if ur not careful.

Try lifting the intake higher. I know you use fine sand but putting a sponge on your intake is not a long term solution. You can also use a surface skimmer add on for your filter. As Patrick for help on that one. He might have one around so you can see.

Live blackworm is for them to stay eating. Afterward, I use red wigglers or earthworm till they eat pellets. Mine never lasted long enough to eat pellets before I sell them.

i moved the intake higher u can tell the difference by comparing the first picture and the last picture. its now 10'' from the bottom of the tank. i still wanna use the sponge just to be safe. if it shaves off a few years of my filters life im ok with it.

my rays seem to nibble at pellets.. they defanetly make it to their mouth!
would u recommend maybe holding off on the pellets until their a bit older?

by the way did u take a look at the other pics i got in my album in my profile?
