Update and unfortunate turn of events

So, a lot of people knew of my plans of either buying or building a 7x3x2 240g tank. Unfortunately, between college, saving money and the rubbish pay that comes with being 16, I'm putting my 'monster tank' plans on hold.
Family is in a tight spot because of high bills and so family comes first over any tank. especially as it's not really a necessity.

My reason for making this thread was so that members of this site did not think I was not following through, true to my word. The plan will happen but over due time.
Another thing is, I just wanted to say that since I've joined this forum, I've learned a crazy amount, both about fish I keep and species I'd like to keep in the future!
Everyone on this website is truly great, knowledgeable and really friendly.
I'd be lying if I said that over the last 3 months where I've been hit by loads of crazy stuff and bad luck, this site didn't help keep me sane.
You guys and girls are absolutely awesome!

Well it sounds like you're doing the mature, grown up thing. That is very respectable, especially for a young man of your age. Stick with the hobby in a lesser capacity if you can so that you can continue to learn and grow. Most of all though, be a responsible member of your family and help out as best as you can. Your parents will remember that later.

I'm still in the hobby, I have a 13g and a 43g from a year ago. My parents told me that they still want me to do my plans so I'm saving money, just at a slower pace. However, my siblings are also encouraging me to do the plan also so I'm not gonna give up as this is something I definitely want to do!
It's actually funny, last May/June, I was doing a chemistry exam and with some of the questions, I just remembered threads of this site lol.

Thanks, I'm doing Applied science. its a 3 year course. After college, going through to do a 4year course in university in Marine and Freshwater Biology.

Kind of in the same spot as you. But with university (final year), just about to be made redundant from my job at the office.

I was kind of the other way...had the financial stability (thanks to god), but did not have the space in the apartment for a monster tank...since I rent with my parents.

So I decided to not look for work, finish my last 5 subjects at University and get my own place. After that, I will invest in my beast of a tank. But I feel the pain man...when you have something that stops you from accomplishing a goal ...especially when that something is time more than anything. Good luck mate :)
