Wow great looking fish and that aqua scape is amazing! What kind of lighting are you using I like it a lot.

awesome jk:). those "bad photos" are still pretty darn good. are they nicaraguan strain? how do the pair do tegether. i have seen that with most big dovii pairs the females seem to be more in charge than the males which i think levels the field and keep the beastly males in check.

I won't speculate on locale since I don't have it. This pair one day is really rough on each other (hence the name) and the next day calm as can be. They get along best when there are fry in the tank so I never remove all of the fry. In this case the female being so much smaller than the male is a huge advantage. When he goes on one of his rampages (summer time heat) she is small enough to fit places I have built in the tank he can't get to. No where in this tank is there not a space within 20" of the next she can fit into, he can't. I will have this pair for life so it's important to me I don't take risks with her that could have been avoided.

Thanks Reggie!!! I use a 36" T5HO in the center of the tank. The tank is 96" so it creates an awesome lighting affect that leaves the edges of the tank dark, this is where I find the female most of the time when they don't have fry. This is an old blurry cell phone pic that I probably shouldn't post, it's embarrassing but without the flash really shows what I mean about the lighting. It's about the fish and tanks anyway not the pics right?

Thanks jweav! If I could figure out how to work the video setting on my D90 I would already have an HD vid out for you guys. I just haven't looked into how to use it yet. (any pointer appreciated)
