^x2 Feed them a varied diet, some pellets like massivore by hikari mixed in with what you are currently feeding, black background does help, as well as 2 water changes a week like gangster said...you can also try using Blackwater extract by tetra I think is who makes it-also helps their colors pop...

you can substitute any cichlid pellet for massivore then I guess! if they are hitting chopped fish like tilapia, you can jam the pellets in the fish, as p bass don't normally take to pellets that easily...
