Are you trying to imply these may be hybrids with a little bit of "longnose" in them?

These are now (@Aug 13) close to 12". I will post a few pictures over this weekend.

You're mistaken. What I'm trying to imply is that I'm surprised in the variations that exist in gars, rather than hybridization with longnose gars.

Florida... hence the thread title and subsequent comments about his florida gar...

Florida Gar (Lepisosteus platyrhincus). Common Names - gar, garfish, Spotted gar.

Guess ill answer my own questions.

Hello everybody,

Thank you for the compliments and encouragement.

I was trying to take pictures where the difference in size from last month would be discernible. I am not sure these pictures do that. (The difference in size is about 1.5-2 inches from July 15 to Aug 15.)



Updated Pictures as of August-15-2010.

As mentioned earlier, one of them is larger than the other one. The larger one is slightly less than 12".

The pics are from a Sony (point-and-shoot) camera. So, I had to to take several pics till I found something I can upload.
