Update of the kitties.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Will get some pics up soon as I can find my camera... but figured I'de do abit of an update on the kitties... the TSN is now a good 14-16" and the hybrid has grown to nearly 10" I'de guess.... thats crazy since less then 6 monthes ago he was 2"! ... we've been back and forth on what to build in the basement and our house made the decision for us.. money we put aside for a build had to be used for the bathroom..since we have 1 bathroom... it wasn't a choice. But we did manage to save enough to buy an intex pool. So that will be here in the next week or so and I can get to building a filter.

Chilling in the pool with their new buddies. plan on pulling them in Dec to get measurements and overall health check.

Holy batman talk about growth spurts! I will have to get pictures here to prove it but the hybrid if you look in the picture above is now as long as the Cuban gar (gar hovering just over the ray next to the TSN) so he has almost doubled in size... he isn't hand feeding yet but comes to the top looking for food when he sees me with the bag of pellets or fish bowl, so I'm wagering its a matter of time... thus far they have made great tank-mates with the gar... my smaller trop did snap at him one night but hes healed up as always just fine and no aggression since. The TSN is also keeping pace with him and I expect this x-mas them to both be approaching 24" as the Cuban gar is 18"ish

Finally got the issues addressed w/ the pool... upside these guys are doing well and growing like weeds still... downside we got rid of everything but the 2 cats and the 2 big tropical gar...

1 we found unfortunately dead the next am =( ( mouth open like she had choked but nothing we could see in the throat, and no signs of a fight on her body ) very tiny lil' guys so I don't think really there was anything we could have done. I'm guessing just the stress killed her. The other one is really doing well and eating, fat lil' tummy! He has darkened up like any TSN juvi but i'm still excited to see how he develops and what species he will be.

the only possabiliy of aggression in the tank could have been from the Mormy I added a few weeks ago now... we believe it may be extreamely territorial as it keeps everyone away from its hide spot under a piece of DW... even the ram pair don't challenge it, and they do not attack anyone else. the banjo cats ect also give the Mormy a wide berth... only the fire eel whos 3x the size of the lil' guy atm ignores it when she comes down. I'm not seeing any glareing issues atm.. but in the future the Mormy will be getting another tank w/ some of the more aggressive tank-mates and the cat will obviously go with others it can't eat as she grows.

Just pics of the big boys.. the lil' guys I will try and get pictures of in the next few days if possible =) But they have grown as well, atm the TSN was moved in w/ the ARTC and so far they are playing nice in our 56 by themselves... should have the 120 set-up here now that we got it moved so they can go into the 75 in the next few weeks.
