BTW its also a wild caught Nigerian-I thought SB or variants were captive bred solely for that purpose. Can it happen with wild types? I'm not fussed either way as its a brilliant fish.

That's the only place I would trust if I were looking for a true wild caught specimen. Sad fact is that hobbyists get lied to plenty, so if you got it from an LFS, might not truly be WC.
But you're absolutely right, the variants are specifically captive bred to express SB, arching back, increased red color, belly pattern, etc... If it had one or more of those traits and it were wild caught, that would be a rare piece.
