Cogs. Really nice Micro. I wish I had the room for one, Loads of character I bet. I would really like to know the size of this guy as I am also looking into the differences between Micropeltes and Diplogramma. My Diplo 'Dippy' had full adult colouration at 7"+ so I suspect Diplogramma to be a smaller species probably maxing about 20"-24"

Looking good..

Is'nt channa diplogramma and channa micropeltes very similar in looks...?

Yes as colin has already said as juveniles they are very simaler. As they develope Diplogramma have a simaler colouration but with spots on there upper profile. Also they appear to have a more pointed head.

ok it was not 18" it was stated that it was 16"+ , it was calcs micro in the pics it does indeed look like a big guy but it is far less advanced into adulthood than cogs whos is 12-13" the picture below shows that the horizontal stripes are still intact and have not yet started to seperate , there is also still a hint of juvie colouration in the tail. to be fair to calc he was going to try and measure it as it was an estamate only.

calc's picture from other thread for comparison

nice micro...does the adult pattern and color mean they are mature enough to breed?

no not really - they need to be around 18month old before they become sexually mature , at that age they should of taken on full adult colouration a long time ago

cheers col

cool...what is the smallest enclosure needed for them to successfully breed..?
