Yea cardinal tetras are hard to breed in a tank.

OnceLoyal, very nice Armatus. What are you currently feeding them and how'd you transition them if off live? I have a few right now and about to transition them to a 75+.... currently 6". They'll eventually get to a 270g. but still power feeding them feeders.

To be honest I starved them to the point that they would probably eat my hand lol. I guess it was 7 days and I added some garlic extract. I waited till later and sliced up some tilapia. Waved it on the surface untill he got aggrevated and then dropped it in really quick. He nailed it before he knew what it was. It seemd after that he figured out it was yummy. It always seems ot have to have a little action though. Like a quick throw in. He ate shrimp a couple times. The smaller one hit day 10 and I gave up and he got a feeder (shiner)
The little one took tilapia on time. I thought I was in the clear. The next feeding I threw in like 5 pieces and he just stared at them. One actuallyhit him in the nose. Waited till later that evening. He hit a piece then let it go which was very odd.
I haven't had the time to really mess with it too much lately. I have to go out of town again ad when I get back and have some patience I will be at it again. I really would like to get them off live to control and give thema more varied diet.

Thank you all for the compliments. Everything is still ok with them. Will keep ya posted.

Your lucky, my pair beat the crap out of each other... wounds everywhere...

Mshuangchao there is still time for that and I am not ruleing it out yet....

Big dogg... just do the old fashion "Starve diet". Starve them for a week at a time and throw in whatever food your trying to get them on too (maybe 1 or 2 pcs max). Take it out after 20-30 min then same thing...
They key to me with my old Armatus was when you give in and feed... I would just do maybe 2-3 feeders. Enough to get them something but not enough for them to be full and shortening the week of starving.

Once he was about 8-9" I went for 2 weeks... finally broke him and was eating Shrimp and Krill. Till I got rid of him at 16.5" and he ate like a champ everyday...

Well let's just hope they get along. I have seen people keep a pair and they seem to live in relative harmony.
BTW, you can call me Chao, my name makes me seem like a Ms. Huang, but in fact I'm a guy lol! , "ms" is just a acronym for my band's name.
