if u starve him, he will take the shrimp, even off bottom of tank. ive never had atf take pellets, but have broken 5 or more off live even my new vatf. these guys can go a week to ten days without food in my experience. if your will to break him is stronger than your urge to see him eat live u will suceed bro.

Yup, ding ding!!

This is my routine for ATF between 4-6"...
1) Start the process with 2-3 feeders
2) starve for 8-10 days straight n every day add 1-2pcs of the food you wish to serve (take out the non eaten food after 30min or so)
3) IMO the most important!! If he is still not taking the new food on the last day, feed him live at a minimum... MAX of 2 feeders n start the starving process at step 2 all over. To me this is the most important because if you dump in a dozen feeders n start the 8 day starving but he eats the last of the feeders tomorrow, now the starving just got shorter (you get the idea :D)

It's a game of "who will give in first"... The fish to non live or the keeper to feeders ;)

With pellets I found splashing them at the surface so they see/feel commotion gets their attention. If on shrimp, soak the pellets under shrimp/tilapia with a splash of tank water for a min or 2... Works almost every time :D

sound good ill try that i want him on shrimp and if hikari arow stick or both
any way ill keep trying
and as alway update on him aswell

thank guys

Floating foods in my book is a "No No"
At the speed they go and the fact that they can not see the space between most tanks water level and the top of the tank, it's just asking for trouble. I've heard of ATF darting at top foods n bashing themselves n one case that actually died from the impact.

Yes it's keeper preference but I say stick to sinking foods :D
Obviously I'm referring to larger ATF but I still dislike the idea ;)

I will confirm the issue with floating food. I have heard some very loud bangs when my tiger goes for something on the surface. I have a soft plastic panel over the top of mine but still see injuries.
