well to begin with, it is illegal to sell any native fish without a permit. secondly, if you catch one that is at least the size limit, then yes you can keep them. i have no idea how much you would make but i wouldnt try to sell them if i were you, thats my opinion.

can you get them onto pellets? or at least frozen food?
are they very active?

i am worried a little bit about aggression if i were to get one ... i think it would look cool in a "ancient" tank with sturgeon and gar ... but the sturgeon would be the focus of the tank as they are my favorite, and i would not want to risk anything messing with them ...
but i suppose the same is true of the gar, so i would wait until the sturgeon have gotten to a decent size, and then add gar and bowfin that were considerably smaller ...
that'd be ok, right?

i imagine if your tank is very large and each fish has its own personal space that they should be fine.
Bowfin can be trained on market shrimp, havent heard about pellets, but if i could get a bluegill and a bass on pellets, you probably can too. i put them in a tank where other fish ate flakes and then they saw they were good and went after them in like 3 days, the bass took much longer tho. after that, i introduced pellets and they took them!
hope this helps

mine eats large pellets. was only aggressive toward my red bay snook. my ornate bichir pushes him around a bit. i dont think you would have a problem doing a ancient tank with one. i really dont think it would bother the sturgeon.
