everything looks good. post some pics up of that surinamensis so we can give you a proper ID. based on that pic, I would say altifrons.

nice fish. but i hope you know that stocking won't last in a 55g. Geo needs sand.

i have fine gravel

fine gravel won't flow through their gills very well. Its doesn't look that fine. Geos mouth is shaped to pick up mouth fulls of sand and let the sand flow through their gills and eat whatever food they were able to pull out. Geos= sand. geos need to be in groups also.

so why keep the fish if you can't make it happy and treat it well. sand isn't that messy, one bag of pool filter sand will do. only cost $10 too.

:chillpill: They wont die without sand. There are many worse situations you can put them in. It will be happier with sand and in a group, yes, but its not going to kill it and make it suffer. Altifrons are less group oriented anyhow if I am mistaking and I'm fairly certain that is what it is. That stocking may not last forever in a 55 either but again, I've seen worse. The stock can always be thinned as needed as I am sure these are not full grown adults yet.

I did not know you could mix ebjd and sevs....my life is complete
