how many inchess?

just over 3" now, he was about 2.5" or so when i first got him. so he seems to be putting on size at a decent rate.

some more ive taken today. im getting better at photos. the new camera helps though.

He is looking great! How is he now in his new home? If I remember right he was unsure and staying out of sight?

If im not mistaken, he should have already started to peel?

Great pix too by the way!:headbang2

cheers for pix compliment. i am getting better, it just takes lots of practice.

no signs of peeling at all, nothing has faded with regards to spots, stripes or grey/green base colour. just a nice red coming out on his fins.
he took an earthworm pellet from my fingers last night and has me feeding him 1 pellet at a time.
he is usually out and about now, still a little jumpy but not to bad.
he doesnt like the wife, his stripes come out all dark and fins go up. he just does the begging "dance" with me. but all is good.

LOL So what you're saying is hes smart to be unsure of the wife? LOL It would be sweet if he kept his reddish fins and a Barred body!

He'll shoot up in size really fast! My little guy that I bought was around 3" or so and now around 4 to 4 1/2". I've had him for about 2 months.

Do you have him in with anything else?

he has grown about 1/2 inch since i got him and he is taller than he was. so he is growing at quite a rate.
nothing else with him at the moment. i gave the wife a timescale for catfish (catfish are her thing) and she hasnt given me the green light, with me coming out the RAF money is better spent elsewhere.
if it goes a month without tankmates then he wont have any, i dont want them getting butchered. i may try a BN plec even past the month point, nothing else, but i figure after about a month any other tankmates will be out the question, plus he will grow quicker if its only him and a small plec.

at times he looks a lot like a barred midas from what ive seen in the recent barred midas thread.

If I may, consider a Pike. I put one in with my Midas and have to say it is fun! If the Midas gets mad or angry and tries to go after the Pike, the Pike just slides out of the way! Its soo funny to see the expression on the Midas's face when he can't catch him... Plus the Pike is out all of the time swimming everywhere!

If you do, choose a pike wisely. Some get huge!

i wasnt really looking for another cichlid, more worried about tank space than anything else. cheers for the suggestion though. i cant go bigger again, ive just down graded from a 150g for health reasons.
